Breaking Ground
What is your favorite subject to learn about? Why?
The Dig
This Sunday, we concluded our series on our new vision statement; which is for Element3 to live as a Centered Set Church that fosters transformative growth towards Christlikeness through Worship, Connection, & Service.
Throughout Scripture, we find calls for disciples to embrace both lifelong active learning/growth (Ephesians 4:11-13, Hebrews 5:11-14, 2 Corinthians 3:18, etc) & rest (Genesis 2:2-3, Mark 6:31, Matthew 11:28-30, etc). Ultimately, both are critical to our daily discipleship & each will take precedence over the other during different seasons of life.
Why is a commitment to lifelong growth & learning essential to pursuing God’s vision for us (both individually & corporately)? What happens when we lose sight of this part of discipleship?
Why do we need to embrace patterns & seasons of rest in our pursuit of God’s vision for us (both individually & corporately)? What happens when we lose sight of this part of discipleship?
What happens when we fail to balance these two spiritual pursuits? How does leaning into one more than the other ultimately derail healthy transformation in Christlikeness?
Take a moment to reflect on your season of life right now.
Are you currently in a season defined more by growth & learning or rest? Why?
How is your current season of growth, learning, or rest helping you transform more into the likeness of Jesus? How is it shaping your engagement with Element3 Church? How is helping E3 pursue its vision during this season?
Moving forward, where might you need to lean more into growth, learning, or rest to live out God’s vision for your life? How could this help both you & E3 as a community better embody God’s vision for us in this next season?
Getting Out of the Hole
Take time each week to reflect upon the Sunday sermon.
- Where do you find yourself learning & growing the most during this season? How can you see God at work in that part of your life?
- Where are you currently experiencing rest during this season of your life? Where do you see God at work in that part of your life?
- How can your experiences of ongoing learning & rest help both you & E3 lean further into Christlike transformation during this season?
