Did you ever work somewhere that you felt like you just did not matter?
How did that affect you?
The Dig
Read Psalm 139:1-12
What strikes you about this passage?
What does it say about God?
What does it say about us?
Describe all the different ways in which God knows us. (vv1-6)
In light of all this, why is it in our nature to run away from God? (v7)
Have you ever done this? (Are you doing it right now?)
What are the costs of trying to find your significance apart from God?
Have you ever done that?
What does it mean to you to be God’s “Beloved”?
How can you stay in touch with that reality?
How would your life look different if you lived out of that reality?
Getting Out of the Hole
This week, try to focus on the ways in which you try to derive your significance from areas other than God’s love.
As you identify those areas, learn to rest in God’s radical love for you as His beloved child.
