GOING DEEPER | CONNEXITY

Join the community and go deeper with this Bible study.

Breaking Ground

What is your reaction to the term or concept of “community”?

Do you consider yourself a “people person”? Why or why not?

The Dig

Read Acts 2:42-47.

Why is community so important?

How do you recognize Biblical community? What are some of the essential characteristics? What are some barriers to community?
How can you overcome these barriers?
What “giants” does Biblical community overcome?

How does Biblical community overcome them?
Is it possible to really know who you are apart from community? Why or why not?

Relatedly, why do you think it’s impossible to be a “lone ranger” Christian? (Or, why do you think it is possible?)

Getting Out of the Hole

What can you do this week to take a step forward in the area of Biblical community? Write down how you can live out a commitment to community this week, and then send the text, write the email, or make the appointment to follow up.

GOING DEEPER | DISCIPLESHIP

Join the community and go deeper with this Bible study.

Breaking Ground

Have you ever had to learn a new skill or behavior?

What was that like?

How did you do it?

Did you have a teacher?

What are some of the “giants” in your life?

What are some attitudes or behaviors in your life that you hope to examine over the next 6 weeks?

The Dig

Read the David and Goliath story (1 Samuel 17:17-58). What strikes you about David’s personality and character?

What prepared him for this encounter with Goliath?

What was wrong with the tools that Saul tried to provide to David (vv38-39)?

What “tools” does God give us to follow Jesus?

Read Mark 8:34-38 How does Jesus describe discipleship here?

What does “take up your cross” mean to you?

Getting Out of the Hole

How are you doing at following Jesus?

Where are you at in your journey?

This week, take a couple of minutes and take the Spiritual Health Assessment that is provided in your Pathways Workbook. Follow the directions, sharing your results with a friend.

What can you do this week to take a step forward in the area of discipleship? Engage in the events of this week.
